Feelings of being different believed to lead to self-harm and other mental health issues
Young LGBT people start becoming depressed and self-harming from the age of 10 because they feel different from their heterosexual peers, research has found.
LGBT 16- to 21-year-olds are four times more likely to have felt depressed, harmed themselves and thought about killing themselves, according to a study based on interviews with 4,800 young people from in and around Bristol.
